We are proud to announce that as of December 2023, we have been awarded the esteemed title of Disability Confident Leader.
What does it mean to be a disability-confident leader?
In essence, being a Disability Confident Leader enhanced our unwavering commitment to going above and beyond the legal obligation to create an environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive in the workplace. Guided by the principles of the Equality Act 2010, we recognise the importance of fostering diversity, including individuals with disabilities, neurodiversity, and health conditions within the workforce.
The Disability Confident scheme is a collaborative effort between the UK Government, employers, and individuals with disabilities, which provides a framework for organisations to utilise to enhance their practices in recruiting, retaining, and progressing individuals within the workplace. This framework is made up of three levels.
- Level 1 – Disability Confident Committed
- Level 2 – Disability Confident Employer
- Level 3 – Disability Confident Leader.
Why did we pursue the status?
Founded by Lawrence Howard, who is neurodivergent himself, and being a truly inclusive employer, we are dedicated to fostering inclusivity in the workplace. Our dedication to Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDI&B) is ingrained in our ethos. The Disability Confident scheme has empowered us to navigate the complexities of disability inclusion, positioning us as leaders in our field.
By attaining this status not only do we reaffirm our dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace culture but also aspire to serve as advocates for disability inclusion in our community. We are enthusiastic about sharing our knowledge and experiences to support other organisations along the journey and be able to award them with their final Level 3 Disability Confident Accreditation.
The benefits of becoming Disability Confident
Being Disability Confident is a unique opportunity that benefits organisations and communities. Actively promoting a positive approach and a clear commitment to disability inclusion in turn encourages team members to feel more confident in the workplace to enhance collaboration and productivity. Additionally, this inclusion enables organisations to tap into a diverse talent pool and secure high-quality employees, enriching their teams with unique skills, perspectives, and experiences.
