Benefits of Coaching and Co-Coaching

Introduction

In the ever-evolving professional world, organisations continually seek innovative ways to enhance employee performance, foster collaboration, and promote personal and professional growth. Workplace Strategy Coaching and Co-Coaching are two specialised workplace approaches that have gained significant traction in recent years. They empower employees to formulate practical and effective strategies for maximising their strengths and navigating workplace challenges successfully.

Workplace Strategy Coaching and Co-Coaching are applicable across various job roles, from junior to executive positions. They provide support for a diverse array of challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, neurodiverse conditions such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia (DCD), Autism, ADHD, Tourette Syndrome, and any health condition leading to long-term cognitive impacts. Challenges related to confidence, imposter syndrome, organisational skills, and focus can be encountered by both neurodivergent and neurotypical employees alike, highlighting the inclusive and comprehensive nature of these coaching approaches. When left unaddressed, these challenges affect the individual’s well-being and capacity to realise their full potential, and impede organisational success.

Exploring Coaching and Co-Coaching

Coaching

Workplace Strategy Coaching is a way to consistently support individuals in optimising their performance. It offers a personalised and tailored approach for individuals to find practical solutions to challenges while recognising and playing to their strengths. Additionally, Workplace Strategy Coaching entails guiding individuals on effectively modifying habits and identifying long-term goals, serving as a source of motivation and a roadmap for sustained personal and professional growth.

Our coaches create a psychologically safe environment, fostering a space where employees can openly share current workplace challenges, and collaboratively develop strategies to enhance productivity and encourage confidence.

Co-Coaching

Utilised independently or, more commonly, in conjunction with Coaching is Co-Coaching. This allows employees and their managers to find new ways to communicate, work together, and collaboratively discover solutions to shared challenges in the workplace. Managers, though willing to assist, may sometimes lack clarity on where to initiate support or may be unaware of how neurodiverse conditions impact their colleagues at the workplace.

Co-Coaching facilitates a deeper understanding of the employee’s performance for the coach and the manager, identifying areas that would benefit from additional support. This might involve implementing reasonable adjustments and compromises, such as providing noise-cancelling headphones to mitigate background noise. It may also include the development of methods or strategies for effective communication. This collaborative process improves communication and problem-solving and nurtures a more effective working relationship between employees and managers.

Coaching and Co-Coaching sessions have several benefits for individuals and the organisation, such as stress reduction, building confidence, boosting productivity, and enhancing working relationships. It has also been found to improve staff retention and decrease team conflict. Some potential areas to explore include:

  • Identifying strengths
  • Time management
  • Memory skills
  • Managing stress
  • Decision making
  • Goal setting
