Community Partnership with Neurodiversity in Business

Jun 21, 2022

Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) is an industry forum to support the participation of neurodivergent individuals in the workplace recently launched at the Houses of Parliament.

The organisation, led by Dan Harris (Chief Executive Officer) draws upon the cumulative knowledge of neurodivergent experts and leading companies to share best practice and improve the employment and experience of the neurodiverse workforce.

What is a neurodiversity?

Neurodiversity describes many commonplace conditions which alter the way people perceive and interpret information, and the world around them. Conditions include (amongst others) autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia and ADHD. Across the UK, various reports show that between 15-20% of people are neurodivergent. In real terms, that is between 10 and 13.5 million people. Yet, just 15% of this group are in any employment whatsoever.

The Vision

The vision is to foster a corporate environment where neurodivergent individuals are understood and form an invaluable part of the work culture. NiB will achieve this by creating a best-practice business community to share indispensable insight for:

  • Neurodivergents – By empowering, recognising, helping them and providing guidance to them will navigate a successful, happy and independent career path
  • Employers – Creating awareness as to the benefits and strengths of neurodiversity in the workplace
  • Neurotypicals – To have a better understanding and awareness of their neurodivergent colleagues

‘Ultimately, NiB’s goal is to improve the working lives of neurodivergent individuals, helping to unlock the unique and innovative contribution they can bring to the business world and society’

What does a community partner mean?

Thriiver has volunteered to contribute towards the forum to raise awareness on the benefits of a diverse workforce to the corporate world of employment. With over 25 years experience in assisting clients in the workplace that have a neurodiversity, Thriiver believed that this new platform is a good space to give back to the community and support NIB’s vision and objectives.

As Thriiver joined NiB, Dan J Harris, CEO said:

“We are delighted that Thriiver has become a founding member of NiB. It signals their commitment to ensuring a truly inclusive workplace and a desire to strive for the best in diversity and inclusion standards.

We look forward to working with Thriiver and all our members in delivering meaningful change for the neurodivergent across business.”
